This Capstone project was designed with The Folio Society as a fictional client, a premium London publisher founded in 1947 and renowned for producing crafted, illustrated classic literary books. The central problem identified was the absence of a cohesive, high-quality collection of novels that inspired Stanley Kubrick’s iconic films; existing editions are inconsistent in design and quality, leaving Kubrick fans and cinephiles without a set that offers order, completeness, and aesthetic harmony. Research involved analysing current editions, surveying audience preferences, and studying the visual and thematic connections between Kubrick’s films and their literary sources. The project required a rigorous design process and iterative development, using Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign to craft a limited-edition piece housed in a display case. The final outcome is a set that appeals to both readers and collectors, offering exclusivity, visual unity, and a deeper appreciation of the relationship between film and literature. The production culminated in a fictional promotional event alongside a Stanley Kubrick film festival at The Astor in Melbourne. Each book has been meticulously designed with bespoke illustrations, motifs, quotations, and colours to create a unified and compelling collection.
