Waste Equals Food, a 64-page publication on the topic of Cradle to Cradle
This book evolved from a previous assignment in the Contemporary Design Issues subject at Swinburne Online. The assignment explored the design concept 'Cradle to Cradle,' popularised by William McDonough and Michael Braungart in their 2002 book "Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things." The problem identified was that designers need to adopt sustainable practices that minimise waste and environmental harm. To address this, extensive research focused on the three aspects of Cradle to Cradle: Closed Loops, Upcycling and Design for Disassembly. The analysis also looked at how the 'Cradle to Cradle' approach can be applied in contemporary architectural design. The book was developed as a concise handbook for designers. It brings together key findings, research analysis, and the final outcome—an accessible guide with colourful infographics and imagery. This 64-page hardcover book, a result of research and creative problem-solving, was printed in Melbourne in 2025 for the Swinburne Online subject, Publication Design.
